The Ashesi Economics Lecture Series (AELS) journal is a compilation of selected, peer-reviewed papers presented at the Ashesi Economics Lecture Series. The papers address economic and public policy issues of relevance to the international community and to the Sub-Saharan African region.
The AELS and its accompanying journal was initiated by Dr. Stephen Armah, Assistant Professor at Ashesi, in 2009. The Ashesi Economics Lecture Series, the first academic lecture series at Ashesi, were aimed at giving faculty, students and the wider Ashesi community the opportunity to engage active researchers on their research work. It was also aimed at bringing experts in academia to Ashesi's campus to speak on various economics related issues. Presenters at the AELS are encouraged to submit accompanying academic articles for publication subject to review in the AELS journal.
In like manner, all authors who submit articles to the journal are required to present their work at the Ashesi Economics Lecture Series before publication. The articles are then submitted for review by reviewers who are either friends of Ashesi with relevant expertise or from Ashesi's faculty. The chief editors of the Journal have final say regarding the publication decision.
Chief Editors of the AELS
Nana Araba Apt (PhD), Emeritus Professor and Former Provost of Ashesi University College.
Stephen Emmanuel Armah (PhD), Senior Lecturer at Ashesi University College.
