Our Learning Goals: Skills for a lifetime

In 2010, our community - faculty, staff, students and alumni - came together to identify seven key learning outcomes that every Ashesi graduate must achieve based on the university's values. These learning goals guide our curriculum and co-curricular programmes, and prepare students for rewarding lives and careers. In 2017, we updated Our Learning Goals; adding an eighth goal, focused on Professionalism.

 Steps to implement Learning Goals:

  • Faculty will include the learning goals in the syllabi of the courses they teach starting in January 2011. A course may not be suitable to train all learning goals, so faculty members should pick those learning goals their courses should best address.

  • Communicate to new students and faculty about Ashesi Learning Goals during orientation.

  • At the beginning of class, communicate to students about the learning goals and how they can achieve them through the courses they take.

  • There will be discussion about Ashesi Learning Goals with Ashesi Student Council and academic representatives.

  • There will be discussion with the student body during town hall meetings.

  • Evaluate the success of our curriculum, programmes and courses in training these attributes.
