On behalf of our Ashesi community, I am delighted to welcome our incoming and returning students to the 2017-18 academic year. You have filled our campus with renewed oomph and excitement! With a new academic year comes new opportunities for academic and personal growth, and we look forward to encouraging you along this stimulating journey of learning and discovery.
As students, you are the heart of our campus community, and the motivation of the staff and faculty. Always remember that you are part of a realized vision with a mission to develop new generation of ethical and entrepreneurial leaders in Africa; to cultivate the critical thinking skills, concern for others and the courage to transform the continent.
Principal to our educational mission is the free and open exchange of ideas. We encourage you to learn from each other and the variety of viewpoints represented in our diverse campus community. We ask you to join with us in preserving the values we cherish as an academic institution, to create a campus ethos that promotes awareness of, respect for and an attitude of celebrating diversity that is welcoming to all.
As part of the college experience, you will find companionship among peers who share similar interest with you. You get to meet new people and gain important life skills through many campus organizations and myriad volunteer opportunities, as well as other social, cultural, and recreational co-curricular activities. Whether on or off campus, we ask that you uphold the integrity of Ashesi community by serving as good ambassadors at all times.
Ashesi has accomplished a lot within a relatively short period of time: Instituting of an honour code, over 90 percent career placement 3 months after national service, a diverse student body representing 20 plus countries, a beautiful campus with very strong academic programs are among the few that comes to mind. We do profess many things but perfection isn’t one. We therefore implore you to help Ashesi continue to seek excellence. Ashesi will be what you make it!
