Coming from rural Zimbabwe to Ghana to attend Ashesi against great odds, sophomore Natasha Mabuza has become a role model for many young people where she grew up. Two years into Ashesi, Natasha, a Mastercard Scholar, spent her semester break working as an intern with Camfed Zimbabwe, which supported her high school education.
With inspiration from Ashesi President, Patrick Awuah, and a grandmother who remains her biggest fan, Natasha has become a strong advocate for education, engaging more local leaders and young people in Zimbabwe to make it a priority.
In this post on Camfed’s website, she tells the story of breaking through academic and financial challenges to come to Ashesi, and why her experiences have strengthened her resolve to give back to Zimbabwe.
