The Ashesi Student Council is happy to announce that its 2015 ASC Week Celebration is taking place from Monday 23rd March to 27th March. The ASC Week Celebration is a weeklong annual event that brings the entire Ashesi community (students, alumni, faculty and staff) together.
In the second semester of each academic year, the A.S.C dedicates a week to celebrate students and their contributions to the university, as well as to strengthen its relationship with them. The week offers an entertaining experience for students and faculty.
Sponsors for this year’s week’s celebration include Nestle Ghana Limited, Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd (Alvaro), Citi FM, Fan Milk Ghana Limited and Akonnor Catering Services. The event is one of the most anticipated events of the school year, and will be characterized by five weekdays of themed celebrations; Career Day, Culture Day, Crazy Day, Alma Mater Day and Dress-Alike Day.
Career Day
Career Day is a celebration of the different professional ambitions of students on campus. From football to construction, students dress in the traditional outfits their career role models work in, depicting careers they would like to pursue in the future. This year, the tradition will continue with the inclusion of a Flash Fiction Writing Competition and Career Panel interaction session.
Culture Day
On this day students are encouraged to share their cultural traditions with the community, coming to campus dressed up in their native attire and/or national colours. It is a day full of learning, and students will get to experience food, dance and many other traditions from different cultures.
Crazy Day
“Crazy Day” is usually the highlight of the week’s celebrations; students are encouraged to “let their hair down” as a community, and have full permission to be wacky. Students come to campus dressed up in their craziest, tackiest outfits. Crazy Day is one of Ashesi’s strongest traditions, and this year’s will include a mini carnival.
Alma Mater Day
On this day students step back into their high school days by showcasing their alma maters’ identities and traditions. Students over the past years have demonstrated pride and loyalty to their various alma; later this day, representatives from the over 100 schools represented at Ashesi will compete in various activities that aim to bring the entire campus together.
Dress Alike Day
On “Dress Alike Day”, students are encouraged to match their attire to highlight the campus unison. This year, Ashesi alumni will be joining in on ASC week to face-off against the student basketball team and interact with students over barbecue.
Don’t miss out on all the fun! Join in!
