Individuals, families and foundations around the world donated by the 31st of December 2014 to help us reach the fundraising goal for our new engineering programme.
The goal of Ashesi’s new program is to provide a world class engineering education to train equal numbers of men and women of exceptional leadership and professional ability in Africa. Ashesi’s engineering program has been built from the ground up, in collaboration with some of the world’s best universities, engineering stakeholders in Africa and women in leadership, to train young Africans to think differently and examine problems in a new way.
Another goal of Ashesi’s engineering program is to train more women in engineering. Through intensive recruiting, scholarships, and pre-college summer workshops, Ashesi will attract Africa’s most curious and hardworking women and students to study and collaborate on our campus.
We believe that a high quality science and engineering education, based on best practices from world-class institutions, can have a long-term sustained impact in Africa. By educating graduates who can build critical infrastructure, start new businesses that create jobs, develop products designed to meet the needs of local communities, and manufacture products for export, we aim to help African economies grow and improve lives.
It’s not too late to get your name on our engineering donor wall. All donors who make a gift pledge of GHS500 ($500 if donating in the U.S) or more by 28th February 2015 will have their name listed on the donor wall.
Your support continues to help us grow, launch new programmes and provide scholarships to students. On behalf of the entire Ashesi community, thank you!
