Ashesi junior, Joseph Nti, has been selected to participate in the Semester at Sea Spring 2014 programme as Ghana's Interport Student. Joseph is the fifth Ashesi student to join the programme since it came to Ashesi in 2009.
Joseph, a Business Administration major, is currently the editor of the Ink Magazine, started this year to chronicle student experiences and stories. He is a Residential Assistant under the Student and Community Affairs department at Ashesi, and helps manage residential life on campus. He has also worked with the Ashesi Football Association, and represented his class on the Judicial and Electoral Committee of the Ashesi Student Council.
Joseph joins the Semester at Sea ship, the MV Explorer, in South Africa and travels with it back to Ghana. He will serve as a shipboard ambassador for Ghana, sharing Ghanaian culture and values with other Semester at Sea students from across the globe.
The Semester at Sea is a premier international shipboard study abroad programme that gives college students the rare opportunity to circumnavigate the globe and see how the rest of the world lives. Instead of the traditional study abroad programmes, where participants travel to a country of their choice, Semester at Sea participants spend sixteen weeks on board the MV Explorer, which serves as a floating campus. They travel from country to country, learning about different cultures and taking part in community service projects in each country. Each Semester at Sea Voyage usually covers about 11 or 12 countries.
