The University of Minnesota has named Millicent Adjei, Associate Director of Diversity and International Programmes at Ashesi, as one of twenty-three rising alumni from its College of Education and Human Development (CEHD).

The CEHD Rising Alumni award recognises alumni of the college who have achieved early distinction in their careers, demonstrated emerging leadership and shown exceptional volunteer service in their communities.

Millicent joined Ashesi in 2012, and started the university's Office of Diversity and International Programs. As part of her role at Ashesi, she has helped increase inter-cultural understanding on campus, and has helped Ashesi initiate several study abroad and funding partnerships with top universities and organisations worldwide. She is part of the team that manages a $13 million MasterCard Foundation Scholars Programme at Ashesi. She is also a board member for the Girls' Exploration and Empowerment Club, an after school learning center for underprivileged girls in Ghana.

Millicent has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Ghana Business School, and a Masters in Comparative and International Development Education from the University of Minnesota. She is also a Ford Foundation International Fellow, an award granted to exceptional individuals from developing countries for academic excellence and efforts to address issues of social justice in their communities.
