April 5, 2013 – For the second year running, all five Ghanaian students selected to participate in the Goldman Sachs Spring Internship programme in London were selected from Ashesi. The Goldman Sachs Spring Internship programme is designed to allow outstanding undergraduate students to gain experience working at the highest levels of the global securities and investment management industry. 
The Ashesi students participating this year, Frank Anamuah-Koufie ‘13, Daniel Ankomah ’14, Michael Quansah ’14, Abigail Osei ’13 and Steven Odarteifio ’13, were selected from amongst applicants from universities across Ghana.
“Being selected for the spring internship at Goldman Sachs is fulfilling,” says Abigail Boamah ’13. “The organisation is vastly diverse, and I am looking forward to gaining hands-on experience in working in a global investment bank.”
The five students, together with other bright students from top universities around the world, will be flown to London this weekend to spend two weeks gaining insight into working in different divisions at Goldman Sachs. The programme will have the students participating in seminars, presentations, exciting groups assignments and give them an opportunity to meet business leaders in London.
“I strongly believe this is a great chance for me to grow and learn,” says Steven Odarteifio ‘13. “As I share in interactions with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, this is a great platform for me to expand my global leadership perspective.”
Goldman Sachs is a global investment-banking firm, and offers diverse financial services to a wide client base. Candidates who apply to the firm are evaluated on the core measures of leadership, analytical thinking, teamwork, commercial focus, achievement and the ability to make an impact.
The firm has been hiring interns from Ashesi since 2006, and two of last year's participants, Naa Ayeleysa Quaynor-Mettle ‘13 and Kwadwo Owusu-Adjei ‘13, have been invited back for summer internships later this year.
