January 30, 2012 – Five Ashesi University College students have been selected to participate in the Goldman Sachs 2012 Spring Internship programme in London. The Goldman Sachs Spring Internship programme is designed to allow excellent undergraduate students gain experience into working at the highest levels of the global securities and investment management industry.
The students selected this year are Naa Ayeleysa Quaynor-Mettle ‘13, Kwadwo Owsus-Adjei ‘13, Ahmed Edusei ‘13, George Sognon ‘13 and Nana Esi Asiedu ‘12. The Ashesi students are the only participants from Ghana this year, and were selected from amongst applicants from universities across the country. The number of students this year is the highest number Goldman Sachs has selected from Ashesi yet, and brings the number of Ashesi students to have had this opportunity to twenty.
The five students, together with other bright students from top universities around the world, will be flown to London later this year to spend two weeks gaining insight into working in different divisions at Goldman Sachs. The programme will have the students participating in seminars, presentations, exciting groups assignments and give them an opportunity to meet business leaders in London.
“This opportunity is directly in line with my career ambitions, and I believe it will be a great learning experience for me,” says Kwadwo Owusu-Adjei ’13. “I also know this internship will provide a great environment for me to apply what I am learning here at Ashesi. I am really looking forward to it.”
Goldman Sachs is a global investment-banking firm, and offers diverse financial services to a wide client base. Candidates who apply to the firm are evaluated on the core measures of leadership, analytical thinking, teamwork, commercial focus, achievement and the ability to make an impact. This will be the seventh year in a row that the firm is selecting students from Ashesi to join its team in London.
