Three Ashesi University College students were selected to participate in the 2011 Goldman Sachs Spring Internship Programme in London. The students were selected from hundreds of applicants who applied from universities across the nation. Goldman Sachs is one of the world’s largest investment banking, securities and investment management firms.
The three Ashesi students selected this year are Ms. Phoebe Acolatse, Ms. Rebecca Inkumsah and Mr. Eric Opoku. They will join some of the world’s brightest students at Goldman Sachs London later in the year. Students were selected after a series of rigorous interviews conducted by officials of the company. The programme is designed to introduce excellent university students from around the world to the workings of a leading global investment, securities and investment management bank. The Interns will have an opportunity to work in several different departments of the bank.
Mr. Opoku and Ms. Acolatse are final year students at Ashesi, Ms. Inkumsah will graduate in 2012. All three students participated in Ashesi’s mentorship programme over the past year. The Mentorship Programme pairs Ashesi students with leaders in corporate Ghana, Ashesi alumni, staff and faculty for one-on-one career coaching.
Mr. Opoku stated “I am very excited for the opportunity to work at a globally renowned firm such as Goldman Sachs. I am looking forward to the challenge. I know that Ashesi has prepared me to take advantage of this opportunity.”
