Reports to Associate Director of Career Services

Job Summary:  Provide statistical and career assistance while greatly supporting the Career Centre’s functions in a consistent and timely manner

Duties and Responsibilities 

Data Gathering and Analysis

  • Conduct student, alumni and employer surveys, critically analyze survey results and prepare reports for strategy development.
  • Collect and analyze placement data on graduating students and the job market outlook, as well as students’ internship placements.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and ensure ongoing reports and analysis are delivered on time and with great quality.
  • Prepare and present summaries and analyses of survey data, including tables, graphs, and fact sheets that describe survey techniques and results.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Monitor and track the Career Center’s annual budget and submit required reports.
  • Conduct Aptitude Tests for students, analyze results and prepare reports accordingly.
  • Maintain a current inventory of Career Center equipment and materials; assist in determining purchase priorities.
  • Manage and report on student attendance records.
  • Generate standard and ad hoc reports on periodic basis as required by the university.

NOTE: Intermediate to Advanced level of proficiency in Excel required.

Job Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable tertiary institution – Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics or similar fields will be preferred.
  • Excellent skills in Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • At least 2 years work experience in a similar role/in a role that makes use of skills required for this role.
  • Be able to present analysis findings in a condensed and actionable format and contribute to the strategic direction of the career services department within the organization.

Computer skills (especially excel) are key in this role in interpreting survey results and also in displaying survey findings in an easy to understand format that promotes strategy development.

This position requires that the jobholder is proactive, takes initiative, and displays a high level of maturity and confidentiality in handling issues that come to his/her attention. He / She must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, must be well organized and be able to multitask. The desired candidate must be able to work very well in a team and must possess excellent analytical and qualitative skills. Ethical behavior is of prime importance in this role.
